Handheld and Laboratory Equipment

Handheld and laboratory devices are considered “off-site” devices, meaning that the media are charged to a personal user account subject to special terms and conditions.

Handsets

A personal collection is a personal user account used to set aside literature that the respective individual should have permanently available at their workplace. Employees of the Weingarten University of Education and the Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences can have a personal collection set up for them. Enrolled doctoral students at both universities may also set up a personal collection by specifying the building and room number.

Personal collections are limited to the duration of the employment relationship (or the period of doctoral study). It is recommended that users periodically review whether the respective titles are still needed as part of their personal collection.

Orders for new acquisitions for reference collections require that at least one copy of each ordered title be ordered for the library’s freely accessible reading area. For orders of copies already in the collection, one additional copy must be ordered. If the Weingarten University Library holds a sufficient number of multiple copies, it may, at its discretion, refrain from reordering in the latter case.

Laboratory equipment:

Laboratory equipment is approved upon request based on the following criteria:

  • The equipment is set
up in a laboratory, learning workshop, etc., accessible to a limited working group, or in a project office.
  • A laboratory supervisor is responsible for the inventory.
  • In the event of a change in responsibility, the library must be allowed to conduct an inventory of the existing stock.
  • Responsibility is either clearly reassigned, or the equipment is disposed of.
