Subject-Specific Information on Individual Subjects

Research Sources for Your Department

  1. Location in the library:
    On the 1st floor, under “System Section D” for pedagogy, you will find literature on educational sciences.
    Subject-specific teaching methods for individual school subjects can be found under the corresponding subject, e.g., biology
     
  2. Databases:
    Through the DBIS database information system, you have access to a wide selection of education-related databases.
     
  3. Electronic Journals
    : Through the Electronic Journal Database, you’ll find a wide variety of open-access and licensed journals in the field of education
    . 
  4. Web Portal (accessible via theDBIS database information system)
    : The Education Portal serves as the central gateway to educational science information for educators in both research and practice.
    Following a relaunch in 2017, the portal is now structured into the following three sections:
    1. Literature
      : Services related to specialized literature are offered, ranging from searching specialized databases and publishing open-access full-text articles to resources for accessing international literature.
      As usual, literature searches on the portal are based on the FIS Bildung literature database. Additional data sets, such as current English-language monographs (Library of Congress) and Italian-language publications (Casalini Libri), are integrated into the search and reference section.
    2. Research
      Data This section offers a comprehensive search for educational research data and instruments, information on research data management, and the option to make your own data and instruments available for reuse.

    3. Research
      Information The service provides an overview of current developments through thematic dossiers and information on early-career researchers, statistics, institutions, research funding, and international aspects of educational research.

      Through the free subject information service FID Educational Science and Educational Research, international scholarly literature and journals can be procured and delivered directly to your workplace. In addition, copyright-free printed sources can be digitized upon request.

      The services of the peDOCS open-access server are integrated into the “Literature” section of the subject portal.

Our printed books are arranged by academic discipline. The Regensburg UnionClassification (RVK) is primarily used as the classification system. This systematic arrangement makes it easier for you to search the shelves, as you can find titles with related content in one place.

You can find the arrangement for your subject area via RVK-online, as well as a detailed overview of this classification system with various search options, such as searching by subject headings.
